Canary / Reed Canary Grass
Reed Canary Grass (Phalaris arundinacea) is a UK native, perennial grass ideal for long-term game cover. It establishes slowly in year one but grows up to 2m tall and offers dense, cold-tolerant cover from year two onwards. Suitable for most soils, it's perfect near rearing pens or woodland edges, providing nesting sites and holding cover for game birds.
Canary Grass (P. aquatica) is non-native but similarly effective.
