SPORTING ESTATES AND GAME COVER
Supporting farm shoots, sporting estates and wild game projects across the UK
Oakbank was founded in part to serve the needs of sporting farms and estates, to provide expert advice and tailored game cover seed mixes, while ensuring compliance with stewardship scheme regulations. As we grew, so did our customer base and offering, but much of our core business is still with sporting clients.
From pheasant drives to wild grey partridge conservation, we offer proven, science-led habitat solutions to improve bird retention, shoot quality, and wildlife outcomes.
Pioneers for Partridge
Along with Dr Francis Buner of the GWCT, we pioneered the GWCT Partridge seed mixes, now grown across Europe. These carefully designed seed mixes are delivering for a plethora of wildlife, including wild game.
We’ve supported the majority of wild grey partridge recovery projects in the UK and have a huge amount of experience and knowledge to share with people wanting to embark on that journey.
Woodland Management for Shooting Estates
Many woodlands planted for shooting in the last century have been undermanaged and no longer deliver the desired habitat. Our woodland team works with clients to:
-
Secure felling licences
-
Develop 10-year woodland management plans
-
Design and plant new woods suited to holding game birds
-
Apply for available woodland and forestry grants
Bringing woodland back into management often delivers a financial return for the owner as well as significantly improving it as a game and wildlife habitat.
