Woodland Grants
English Woodland Grants Scheme is now open for applications for 2011/2012
The aim of the EWGS is to create woodlands (usually greater than 0.25 ha) in areas of local and national priority.
It is quite feasible to meet the regional priorities and still create a woodland suitable for game management requirements such as pheasant release pens.
Woodland Creation Grants are open for applications for the 2011/12 planting season. The grant structure is made of three parts:
- Woodland Creation Grant- up to £1800/ha towards the basic establishment costs.
- Additional contributions –an extra contribution of £2000/ha where applications meet regional priorities
- Farm Woodland Payment- annual payments of up to £300/ha to compensate for income forgone when creating woodland on agricultural land. This lasts between 10-15 years depending on the proportion of broadleaves planted. Those who qualify for this may continue to claim Single Farm Payments on the same area.
This means that landowners who plant woodland on arable land in priority areas could receive up to £8300/ha in grants, and still receive their SFP.
Other grants available for 2011/12 include Woodland Improvement Grants, Woodland Planning Grants, Woodland Assessment Grants, Woodland Regeneration Grants and Woodland Management Grants. The application process is competitive and varies from region to region.
We can guide you through the application process for any of these grants. Also, we can supply high quality saplings from a great family run nursery in Yorkshire and can offer a planting service, including spirals, tree guards, canes and stakes.
